Christian was born out of wedlock and given away by his mother. He grew up in an orphanage. It was not until later in life that he was reunited with his mother. She never told him who his father was. When he died, I didn't see any signs of grief in her.

She lived to be one hundred and two. Whenever we visited her, she entertained us with home-cooked meals.
