2003 I was invited to spend a month in a small German town. I was expected to produce during that time a work of art that would be presented in a “white cube” on one of the streets of the city. The topic was “Heimat”, a word that is easy and is hard to translate. “Heimat”- my home country, and: home is where my heart is. Anyway, I bought myself a video camera and spent the month filming and fighting with technical problems. The editing program was hard to master for me. My idea was to ask people how they define “Heimat” for themselves, and: I wanted to use the camera as a photographer would do it. No aspirations at all to become a movie maker, no aspiration to make a movie. An experiment with moving pictures.
